아흐메드 미크다드(Ahmed Miqdad) 시인은 팔레스타인 가자시 출신이다. 그는 네 명의 자녀를 두고 있으며 팔레스타인 교사이며 시인이다. 그는 시집 세 권과 단편 소설을 출판했으며 그의 목표는 자신의 말을 통해 전 세계 사람들에게 팔레스타인 문제를 알리는 것이다.

곧은 길을 안내하는.

달이에요,

어두운 세계를 비추는.

우리는 숫자가 아니에요,

우리는 메마른 사막에서 살아가는

올리브나무에요,

억압자를 불태우기 위한 빛과 불을 주는.

우리는 숫자가 아니에요,

우리는 저항자와 애국자들의 어깨를 장식하는,

우리는 쿠페이아(Kuffeyia)이에요,

우리는 숫자가 아니에요,

우리는 피로 땅을 적시는

희생자들이에요,

빼앗긴 땅을 해방하기 위해.

우리는 숫자가 아니에요,

우리는 편견의 시대에 억압된 이들에게

 

정의를 주려는

우리는 숫자가 아니에요,

우리는 파렴치한

팔레스타인에 정착한

점령자들을 쫓아내는 저주가 되어요.

우리는 숫자가 아니에요,

우리는 나누거나 빼앗을 수 없는

어려운 숫자이지만,

우리는 팔레스타인 사람들이에요.

In the dark sky,

That lead to the straight path.

We are the moon

During the bleak nights

That lights the dark world.

We are the olive tree

That lives in the barren dessert

Which gives light and fire

To burn the oppressors.

We are the Kuffeyia

Which decorates the shoulders

Of rebels and patriots.

We are the martyrs

Who irrigate land with blood

To liberate the stolen land.

We are not numbers,

We are justice

To the oppressed

In the time of prejudice.

 

We are not numbers,

We are the curse

That chases the occupiers

Who have settled Palestine.

We are not number,

But we are the difficult number

That none can divide or subtract.

We are Palestine.
