◇전시 소개
이진휴는 미국과 몇몇 유럽국가들이 주도한 예술에 포함된 역사적 주제들이 모더니즘 이후의 세계 미술사의 주류를 이룬다는 것에 비판적 시선을 갖는다.
스페인과 이라크에서 지냈던 그의 배경에서 알 수 있듯, 그는 문화와 역사에 대한 다원주의를 견지하며, 생과 사의 형태 및 정치적 평등에 대한 독특한 세계관을 제시하곤 한다.
이진휴는 본인 세대의 미술사가 주목하는 것보다도 제 3자들이 내놓은 가치들에 주의를 기울인다. 그는 낭만적인 꿈에 대해 자주 이야기하며 위대한 상상력을 즐기는 사람이기도 하다.
이진휴의 작품 중 주도적인 테마는 “중국에 대한 파편적인 생각”이다. 한국, 스페인 그리고 이라크라는 독특한 배경을 가진 아티스트로서 그가 보여주는 오늘날의 중국은, 중국 아티스트들이 보여준 해석과는 사뭇 다르게 발현된다.
레닌과 체 게베라를 융합시키며, 마오쩌둥과 덩샤오핑을 단지 국가적 또는 역사적 인물로서 묘사하기보다 지극히 인간주의적인 방식으로 표현하는 것은 하나의 아티스트로서 이들에게 접근하려는 노력의 일환일 것이다. 중국 미술의 세계화가 예측되는 현시점에서, 외국인의 시선으로 중국 사회와 미학이 다뤄지는 것은 큰 가치와 의의가 있을 것이다. 또한 한국 아티스트라는 독특한 점 또한 그의 작품의 특별한 의미를 부여한다.

Jin-Hyu Lee possesses a critical view regarding the aspect that the occurrences of historical issues in art led by the United States and some European countries form the mainstream of world art history after modernism. As his background in Spain and Iraq would suggest, he supports a pluralist position of culture and history, and proceeds to present a unique worldview in regard to the form of life and death, as well as political equality. Jin-Hyu Lee is the type that is devoted to the values of a third party rather than the interests in art history of his time. He himself evokes romantic dreams and also is the style that enjoys powerful imaginations.
A major theme in Jin-Hyu Lee‘ s works is 'The Fragmentray Thoughts of China.‘ In the way how the work perspective of an artist with a very unique background ranging from South Korea to Spain and Iraq usually presents itself in his work, the current day China reflected through him is a somewhat different prospective from the interpretations of the Chinese artists. Combining Lenin and Che Guevara, as well as presenting Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping from a very humanistic dimension rather than a national or historical figure is his attempt to approach as an artist. The way of Chinese society and the aesthetic point of view reflected through the foreigner's prospective has a greater valus and significance at a time when the global era of Chinese art is predicted. Furthemore, the very rare factors such as being a Korean artist cause his works to hold greater special meaning.
